Architect Professional Education

Overview

In 2010, a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) was established for various jobs and professions. Starting in 2015, the ASEAN Free Market was implemented for the architecture profession through the Mutual Recognition Agreement for Architectural Services. As a requirement to be internationally recognized, graduates from universities in Indonesia must undergo a minimum of 5 years of architectural education plus an internship abroad. This requirement aligns with the standards set by the Union Internationale des Architectes (UIA), the official body that oversees the architectural profession worldwide.

Therefore, architectural education in Indonesia needs to be extended by 1 additional year (4+1) to meet these international demands. In this context, the 1-year extension is added as the Professional Architect Education Program (PPAr).

The uniqueness of the PPAr program in each university relates to graduate profiles, vision and mission, lecturer competencies, and available facilities, all of which are realized through the provision of courses. A professional program like this is expected to produce graduates who are more capable and competent, with broad connections in the global professional community.

IAI Certification and International Standards

This program integrates the Code of Ethics Orientation Program (PKE) from IAI and provides certification. In addition, every student receives guidance for the Architectural SKKNI at level 7, which is integrated with the Indonesian Institute of Architects (IAI) program.

Vision

To become a community of Professional Humanum Architects with an entrepreneurial spirit (archipreneurs), innovative, and capable of optimizing local potential for the sustainability of human life and the environment.

Mission

To organize the Professional Architect Education Program in accordance with the recommendations of UIA, IAI, and APTARI, in order to produce young humanum architects who are innovative, able to optimize local potential, and ready to work through apprenticeships on their journey to becoming licensed architects (STRA).

Targets

1. To produce young architect graduates who are professional, entrepreneurial, capable of working in teams, innovative, uphold the values of SINDU, and meet the requirements of the Architects Law as well as the competencies established by UIA and IAI.
2. To produce graduates who excel in applying and developing knowledge and technology in the field of architecture, with the ability to optimize local potential.
