About the Study Program
The Master of Architecture Program is part of the Faculty of Engineering at Parahyangan Catholic University, designed to develop the professional and academic capacities of architects in addressing today’s built environment challenges. The program is grounded in the principle of humanum, namely human values that respect the dignity of every individual while also emphasizing the sustainability of creation. In addition, the approach applied is both innovative and contextual, enabling students not only to pursue novel ideas but also to respond to the realities of place, tradition, and time that shape architectural practice in Indonesia.
Through a combination of theoretical mastery, contextual reflection, and skill development, this program equips students with strong competencies in both research and design. Students are prepared to become academics, practitioners, and researchers with the ability to think critically, act creatively, and carry social responsibility. With a total study load of 54–55 credits, the program can be completed in a minimum of three semesters and a maximum of eight semesters.
Specialization Program
The Master of Architecture Program at UNPAR offers five specialization tracks as study directions for students.
- Vernacular & Heritage: Cultural Tourism
This specialization focuses on the preservation and adaptive reuse of traditional architecture to support sustainable tourism. It prepares students to design with sensitivity toward local identity, cultural heritage values, and community engagement, while balancing conservation with contemporary use. - Culture & Behavior: UX-Driven Design
This specialization explores design approaches oriented toward user experience, shaped by emotions, memory, movement, and perception. Emphasizing empathy and cultural awareness, it equips students to create meaningful and responsive spaces through both studio and theoretical approaches, where design not only serves users but also resonates with them. - Urban Design: Sustainable Property Development
This specialization promotes equitable urban growth through human-centered and context-sensitive design, balancing ecological, economic, and cultural aspects. It highlights the importance of mobility, land use, and resilience, while integrating history, policy, green incentives, and participatory planning to create livable cities that are resilient to future challenges. - Sustainable Design: Green and Smart
This specialization emphasizes environmentally friendly and smart building design strategies, including energy and water efficiency, sustainable material use, and the creation of healthy spaces. It encourages innovation and research to deliver a built environment that is globally responsive and future-ready, in line with international sustainability standards. - Computational Design: Digital Craft
This specialization explores the integration of digital technology with craftsmanship. Students develop computational thinking through hands-on projects using tools such as 3D printing, laser cutting, and augmented reality (AR), while experimenting with innovative design methods that redefine how architectural forms are conceived, designed, and produced.
