Graduates of the UNPAR Architecture Study Program are members of the Ikatan Alumni Arsitektur UNPAR (IAAU), which has been established since December 19, 1976. The IAAU Secretariat is located within the Architecture Study Program, making it the official forum for alumni to network, contribute, and collaborate across generations.
Alumni activities are actively facilitated by IAAU, with the main objective of supporting the advancement of the Architecture Study Program in both academic and non-academic areas. These activities include financial contributions, facility support, active involvement in program activities, networking development, and the provision of resources. The initiatives include:
1. Fresh Graduate Empowerment Program (FGEP)
IAAU, in collaboration with the UNPAR Architecture Study Program and the Indonesian Institute of Architects – West Java Chapter (IAI Jabar), has organized a competence development program for fresh graduates of the UNPAR Architecture Study Program. Known as the Fresh Graduate Empowerment Program (FGEP), this initiative has been conducted for each graduating class since 2008, with 10 batches completed to date.
The FGEP sessions have been held as follows:
- FGEP 1: February 9–21, 2009
- FGEP 2: July 6–18, 2009
- FGEP 3: November 9–14, 2009
- FGEP 4: February 8–20, 2010
- FGEP 5: June 1–12, 2010
- FGEP 6: August 23 – September 4, 2010
- FGEP 7: February 28 – March 12, 2011
- FGEP 8: October 16–28, 2011
- FGEP 9: March 10–23, 2012
- FGEP 10: March 25 – April 10, 2013
- FGEP 11: July 8–20, 2014
2. Congress and Alumni Gatherings
Every three years, IAAU organizes a reunion to expand networking opportunities and conduct leadership transitions. The most recent reunion took place in 2024.
These gatherings include the election of new IAAU board members, alumni project presentations, recognition of outstanding graduates, and social events connecting alumni across cohorts.
For instance, the 6th Congress and 8th Alumni Gathering was held on June 4, 2016, under the theme “Moving Forward Together to Face Global Challenges” (Article link).
3. Seminars and Exhibitions
To commemorate the 65th Anniversary of the Architecture Study Program and UNPAR’s 70th Anniversary, IAAU hosted the annual event Archi:pelago 2025, which featured alumni exhibitions, talk shows with national and international architects, and a grand reunion night that integrated various generations and professional backgrounds of alumni.
One of the Archi:pelago 2025 talk shows involved direct collaboration with the Mayor of Bandung, focusing on sustainable urban and kampung housing management.
Previously, in 2011, the Architecture Study Program, IAAU, and the Center for Housing and Settlement Research and Development co-hosted a National Seminar and Exhibition on “Policies and Strategies for Sustainable Housing Provision in Indonesia”, held in Bandung on November 22–23, 2011.
4. Community Service (Arsitektur 86 Peduli Foundation)
Beyond IAAU, some alumni have initiated social activities that represent their alma mater. A notable example is the Arsitektur 86 Peduli Foundation (ars86care), established by the Architecture class of 1986.
The foundation focuses on supporting children’s education by providing educational tools and publishing illustrated storybooks for young learners.
5. Alumni Data Inventory
Another ongoing initiative is the digital and online documentation of alumni profiles, including professional records, places of residence, and notable works. This inventory aims to serve as a comprehensive resource for networking and academic collaboration.
